About this group
Encounter D&D is a therapeutic gaming experience that uses Dungeons & Dragons as a creative, experiential space for personal growth and relational exploration. Through shared storytelling, roleplay, problem-solving, and group interaction, participants have opportunities to explore patterns of communication, emotion, identity, relationships, and decision-making in real time. The group is facilitated (and DM'ed) by me, Kevin Klevjer, a licensed therapist and Certified Therapeutic Game Master. I pull from my certification as a Relational Psychodynamic Therapist as well, and aim to aim to integrate aspects of RPT and Yalom group psychotherapy approaches, while keeping the experience playful, engaging, and grounded in the game itself. No prior D&D experience is necessary—the focus is less on playing the “right” way and more on discovering what emerges when we play together.
