About this group
We've had it backwards; vulnerability is not a weakness but actually a strength. The true weakness has been in not being vulnerable. That said, for men in our culture that has been hard to believe when the prevailing archetype has been that of the rugged individual. The problem is not in the trials & tribulations that life is throwing at us with increasing intensity but rather in being alone in them. Given that, I'm offering another opportunity for a group of men to gather weekly to share authentically what's on our respective hearts & minds as we serve as sacred witness to ourselves and one another so that we may better show up in our lives. We will be meeting virtually either Tuesdays 9/22-12/15 7-8:30PM or on Fridays 9/25-12/11 12-1:30PM. We begin with a facilitated centering exercise to help us drop out of our heads and into our feeling body to be more present, followed by an initial round of brief check in before opening up to a few deeper shares based on where the energy seems strongest for others to offer their reflections. Each man will be given adequate space to both give & receive support that will build over the ten weeks we are committed to being with one another. I am making it available based off of the sliding scale justice model of $40-80 a week for the ten week sessions. Please indicate interest or to inquire further by responding to this e-mail, and share with other men you know who may benefit from this support group. Here are a few testimonials from our last series: "I shared things I never thought I'd share and heard things I never thought I'd hear. Wow, the power of opening up and listening in a group like that! The need for male vulnerability and compassion seems so obvious and necessary." "The benefit for me was the weekly practice of tapping in to a deeper level of connection with myself and with others. Developing this "vulnerability routine" within a chaotic work/life/relationship paradigm helped guide my path forward as a man in this crazy world." "The idea that I’m uniquely flawed or that I’m struggling with singular challenges was graciously corrected, and there is a strange yet tangible affirming encouragement through hearing and interacting with other men facing the same or similar struggles."
